"The Veil” is a project aiming to address the new paradigm shift in Iranians’ identity which followed by the tragic death of Mahsa Amini. The artwork depicts a building being covered under a black veil, built in the style of Iranian Qajar architecture. Qajar was the last dynasty under which the Iranian (Persian at the time) government did not issue any order for women coverage in the public. The artwork challenges the idea of the mandatory hijab law in a symbolic way and encourages the viewer to contemplate the impact of such requirement on the Iranian identity and society.
